Renowned pianist and singer-songwriter Bruce Hornsby has mapped out a 2023 summer tour that includes a stop at The Clyde on the evening of Sunday, Sept. 17. 

Hornsby and his longtime band The Noisemakers are celebrating 25 years of Spirit Trail, often mentioned as one of Hornsby’s best albums. This landmark 1998 album was Hornsby’s sixth studio effort and includes a few songs that have become staples of his live shows, including “King of the Hill,” “Great Divide,” “Sunflower Cat (Some Dour Cat),” and “Fortunate Sun.” 

As an added bonus, each ticket will include a copy of the Spirit Trail: 25th Anniversary Edition 3-CD box set to be picked up at the show.

Catch some jazz at Botanical Conservatory

On Saturday, July 15, from 6-10 p.m., Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory will host Jazzworks!, an evening of live music on the conservatory terrace. 

The event will have you grooving to the jazz stylings of Alicia Pyle & The Locals, Ty Causey, and The Mad Scatter

There will also be food and beverages available for purchase from Mad Anthony Brewing Company. All you need to do is bring a lawn chair and dancing shoes. 

Plus, it’s the same night as the Three Rivers Festival fireworks finale, which will make for a perfect backdrop while soaking in some smooth tunes. 

This is an all-ages event with a $10 cover. 

Two-day Roots festival set for downtown

In addition to Jazzworks!, the Conservatory will host Botanical Roots Music Fest on Aug. 4-5 that will feature music from a wide range of regional heritages and cultural backgrounds. 

Friday evening will consist of zydeco and reggae music by C.J. Chenier & The Red Hot Louisiana Band, Lazzo & Exodus, U.R.B., and Los Galaxy from 5-11 p.m. and run you $15. 

Saturday is a full day of music for $20 from noon-11 p.m. with blues, Americana, and folk with Mississippi Heat, Debutants, Grace Theisen & The Rebel Eves, G-Money Band, Rosalind & The Way, Phil’s Family Lizard, and A Picker and A Grinner

If you plan on attending both days, there is a two-day ticket for $30. In any event, this is a great lineup and something you won’t want to miss! 

Embassy welcoming in Ashanti

On Friday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m., you will have the chance to spend the evening with Grammy-winning artist Ashanti at Embassy Theatre. 

Ashanti achieved early success by being a part of two smash hits in 2002 when she was featured on Fat Joe’s “What’s Luv?” and Ja Rule’s “Always on Time.” Both hits became two of the biggest songs of the year. She followed that by releasing her self-titled debut album which earned several awards and certified triple platinum in the U.S.

Mighty Ducks’ star coming to Piere’s

On Friday, June 30, at 8 p.m., Piere’s welcomes actor and comedian Shaun Weiss to the stage. 

You are probably asking yourself, “Who is Shaun Weiss?” Well, there is a good chance you’ve seen him on the big screen in the ’90s as goalie Greg Goldberg in all three Mighty Ducks movies. He also appeared in Heavyweights and a handful of TV shows like Boy Meets World, The King of Queens, and Freaks and Geeks
