The Huber Opera House has been in existence in downtown Hicksville, Ohio, for 136 years. Originally a hotel, it has also been a vaudeville stage, a movie theater, and a bar over the years. Recently renovated, the theater now aims to serve as a training ground for aspiring theater professionals.
The Huber reopened in August with a production of The Lion King and has several productions on the schedule for the upcoming season. One of those productions is Mamma Mia!, one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history. A tremendous success on Broadway and as a touring production over the years, it still lives on in theaters across the country just like the Huber Opera House. Featuring the music of Swedish pop sensations ABBA, the musical has spawned two blockbuster movies and has kept the music of Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny, and Anni alive since the original production first opened in 1999.
CC Banks Productions, a local production company with a goal of providing quality entertainment within small communities through theater, has assembled a talented local ensemble cast that has worked for the better part of two months to perfect the songs and choreography in order to present a very professional show.
A dinner and show option is available if you choose or you can just go to the show. Either way, tickets are reportedly selling fast.
