Walt Disney’s Fantasia had its theatrical release way back in 1940 and is still on the list of top 25 highest-grossing films of all-time. Even back in the ’40s, Disney rarely missed a chance to expand on something that had success, using the Fantasia name to create an empire that now includes dolls, toys, video games, Disneyland and Disney World attractions, soundtracks, DVDs, apparel, and just about anything else you can imagine.

Live concerts are a special segment of that empire due to the timelessness of the music, still sounding as inventive and original today as it did more than 75 years ago. It’s that special music that will be the centerpiece of the celebration when the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, conducted by Caleb Young, presents Fantasia on November 3 at The Embassy Theatre. A compilation of scenes from both the original cinematic masterpiece and the 2000 sequel are scheduled to be performed by the orchestra that aims to continue to “grow its listener base by boldly innovating to connect with new groups of people,” according to its website.

One of the most vibrant and highly acclaimed orchestras in the country, The Fort Wayne Philharmonic continues to find ways to perform great art like the music of Fantasia “in the most excellent possible manner,” resulting in experiences that keep audiences coming back time and time again.
