It’s been about 15 years or so since the local outfit Vanilla Shortcake have performed together. That is scheduled to change on Thursday, Dec. 28, at Wrigley Field Bar and Grill, 6527 E. State Blvd.

That evening, Jon Hill, Dan Willig, Ben Porter, Ivan Graham, and Dave Pagan will join forces for improv funk and hip-hop.

With Graham in Los Angeles and Hill in Chicago these days, the opportunities to get together have been few and far between. However, thanks to the holidays, these cats will all be in town and have decided to reunite for an evening of jams and other gifts that your ears will have to open in person.

Music will get started at 8 p.m. and won’t cost you a dime.

Come out and see the crew once again and talk them into making this an annual event.

In addition to that show, Pagan will return to Wrigley Field the following night with his band U.R.B., so you might as well put that on the calendar, too.

Co-headlining metal tour stops at Piere’s

Veteran metal bands Voivod and Prong have announced a co-headlining 2024 North American tour that includes a stop at Piere’s on Thursday, March 21.

Both bands will be on the road in support of recent albums. Voivod’s 40th anniversary album, Morgoth Tales, was released in July and Prong’s 13th album, State of Emergency, was released in October.

Fans can expect to hear the new material as well as classic favorites, delivered with the raw energy and passion that both bands are renowned for.

This is a good snag by Piere’s. Don’t miss it!

Tickets for this all-ages show are available at etix.com and at all Wooden Nickel locations.

Flo Rida performing at Jay County Fair

The Jay County Fair is set to take place down in Portland from July 6-13.

Along with the demolition derby, rodeo, truck and tractor pull, and straw races, you can add a global superstar as Flo Rida and DJ Kronik will headline the grandstand on Friday, July 12.

That’s right, the rapper behind the apple-bottom-jeans-boots-with-the-fur anthem “Low” is coming to rural Indiana.

In all, it will be a party with a care-free summer vibe and feel-good hits like “Whistle,” “Good Feeling,” “Club Can’t Handle Me,” and “Right Round.”

Portland is about an hour south of The Fort, but will be well worth the trip for this event.

Tickets for the Grammy-nominated rapper are available at etix.com. For more information on the fair, go to jaycountyfair.com.

Up-and-coming artist to play at Brass Rail

On Thursday, Dec. 28, The Brass Rail will host up-and-coming musical artist Myron Elkins

Elkins never set out to be a musician, and, in fact, became a welder in his hometown of Ostego, Michigan, after graduating high school.

However, fate had other plans. After entering a local battle of the bands competition a few years ago and finishing second, the experience opened Elkins eyes to a very different career path.

Now, at 21 years old, he’s one of music’s most intriguing new artists with the release of his debut album, Factories, Farms, & Amphetamines

With a gritty, whiskey-soaked voice and licks that would gain approval from the Allman Brothers and ZZ Top, Elkins is someone to keep an eye on. Lucky for us, he’s coming to Fort Wayne that evening and will be joined by Pete Dio & The Old and Dirty

All this fun for only a $9 cover charge. See you there!
