The final votes have been counted and the results are in for the ninth annual Holiday Window Decorating Contest, presented by Downtown Fort Wayne.

More than 20 downtown businesses and organizations participated, with this year’s theme being Silver Bells. 

Contestants were awarded first, second, and third places in three categories. 

Most Thematic: First — Club Soda; Second — Stoner’s Funstore; Third — Peerless Cleaners

Most Fort Wayne: First — JK O’Donnell’s Irish Ale House; Second — Sweets on Main; Third — Citilink

People’s Choice: First — Club Soda; Second — Markey Bonding; Third — Citilink

Voting began during the Night of Lights on Nov. 22, and ended Dec. 10. 

Voters were automatically entered to win a $100 Downtown Fort Wayne gift card in partnership with Yiftee, and one area voter was randomly selected as the winner.

Civic Theatre seeks college interns

Fort Wayne Civic Theatre is looking for college interns. This paid theater production internship is for current college students for the upcoming spring semester. 

An interest in technical theater is preferred, but candidates do not need to have prior experience. Training will be provided.

Application deadline is Dec. 22 for the internship that runs from Jan. 8-May 24.

Painted Tree Boutiques opens

Painted Tree Boutiques recently held their grand opening in the space formerly occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond at Jefferson Pointe Shopping Plaza.

Described as “an Etsy marketplace and Pinterest catalog come to life,” the shop offers space for individual vendors to sell their wares in a farmers market-type atmosphere.

Painted Tree Boutiques got their start in 2015. The Fort Wayne shop is first in Indiana and 36th in the country, with another nine in the works.

The store is open daily from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Three Rivers Music Theatre hosting fundraiser

Three Rivers Music Theatre is holding a one-night holiday concert on Friday, Dec. 22, to reach their fundraising goal. 

Led by founder Andy Planck, some of the city’s finest cabaret singers will present classic holiday favorites to raise funds for their educational and artistic programs. 

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at their new location just off Wells Street, 416 W. 4th St.

Indiana Musical Theatre announces season

The local nonprofit Indiana Musical Theatre Foundation recently announced their 2024 season.

As they’ve done in the past, the theater company will kick off their season with their Black History Month Concerts Series. After devoting the previous two shows to Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, this year’s production will be The Songs of Stevie Wonder on Feb. 23-24 at RKF Studios, 2446 Lake Ave.

The season continues with the premiere of Darby LeClear’s play The Longest Night from April 12-21, with the cabaret The “Do Not Sing” List slated for June 14-15.

The show moves to North Side High School for Fort Wayne Summer Music Theatre’s production of Legally Blonde the Musical from July 12-21.

Moving to Arena Dinner Theatre, IMTF will put on Chicago from Sept. 13-29, with the season closing back at RKF Studios with Christmas on Lake, Dec. 13-14.
