The Junior Achievement Young Entrepreneur Marketplace will take place at the YLNI Farmers Market on Saturday, July 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 302 E. Berry St. in Fort Wayne. 

The marketplace is a chance for entrepreneurs up to 21 years old (and college students) to sell their products in person to the public. This one-day outdoor event is open to youth with an existing or new business. 

In partnership with the Young Leaders of Northern Indiana Farmers Market in downtown Fort Wayne, youth will gain experience operating a business and promoting their hand-produced goods to more than 5,000 visitors. 

Items include beaded jewelry, greeting cards, bath products, home-baked goods, artwork, and clothing.

Summer Nights begin at the Embassy

The Embassy Theatre will hold their Summer Nights series from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday evenings through August 30. Tickets are $5.

Dinner fundraiser for Blessings in a Backpack

Blessings in a Backpack will present a Celebrity Chef Dinner with Alex Guarnaschelli on Sept. 26. All proceeds will help feed children in our community. 

The event will include a meet and greet with red carpet photos, cocktail hour with champagne and appetizers, five-course dinner curated and prepared by Chef Alex complete with wine pairing, and a full-size Vera Bradley swag bag, complete with the chef’s signed cookbook.

Get close to a fire truck at autism event

Bierman Autism Centers will host a “touch a truck” event where visitors can get up close and personal with real fire trucks. 

The Touch-A-Truck Extravaganza is Tuesday, July 18, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at 12938 Coldwater Road. Admission is free and refreshments will be available.

Fort Wayne one of nation’s ‘best run’ cities

WalletHub named Fort Wayne the seventh Best Run City in the United States, from a list of the top 149 most populated cities in the country. 

The rankings were determined by six key categories: financial stability, education, health, safety, economy, and infrastructure and pollution.
