The free, family-friendly WaterWorks FunFest encourages attendees to unravel the mysteries and fascinating science behind wastewater treatment and discover the “Science Behind the Flush.”

Presented by Fort Wayne City Utilities, this event promotes scientific knowledge about wastewater treatment and its vital role in public health and environmental sustainability.

Take a guided tour of the City Utilities Water Pollution Control Plant, 2601 Dwenger Ave., that will take you through the high-powered pump building, the control room, and the always popular lab where a high-powered microscope brings the hardworking, sewage-eating bugs up close and larger than life. The City Utilities team will show off the equipment used to examine and televise pipes as well as their powerful vacuum trucks.

Also on tap are the deep-rock tunnel display, touch-and-try experiments stormwater runoff demonstrations, and plenty of games with prizes designed with all ages in mind.

Along with all the knowledge you’ll learn, don’t forget to grab a bite from the food trucks on hand: Drop It Like It’s Tot and Sweets on the Streets.
