The third production of Fire & Light Productions’ season is the stage classic The Sound of Music.
The musical will be presented January 18-20 at Arts United Center and, as is the norm, it will feature local youth between the ages of 8 and 18.
The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein is an inspirational story revolving around the Von Trapp family during World War II. Along with the story, the musical features several songs that have become ingrained into our culture including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “Edelweiss,” and, of course, the title number.
The play and the movie based on it have earned five Tony Awards and five Oscars respectively.
The production is rated G and will have 7 p.m. showtimes each day, as well as a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.
