Sweetwater snagged some great musicians for its upcoming Master Classes!
Guitar shredders will be excited to know that one of the original melodic thrash guitarists and Testament-legend Alex Skolnick will instruct a class on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 7-9 p.m. His class will focus on harmonic, melodic, creative, and technical guitar playing styles from hard rock and metal to jazz and many points in between. This is open to all ages and there is no doubt you will leave a better guitar player.
The same evening, bassist Stu Hamm will demonstrate and discuss the techniques that helped add to the lexicon that shaped generations of bass players. Hamm has performed and recorded with the likes of Steve Vai, Frank Gambale, and Joe Satriani. This is also an all-ages clinic that will have Hamm performing his best-known solo pieces followed by a Q&A session.
Each of these classes is only $100 and tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite. For more info on these classes and future events, go to Sweetwater.com.
To Breathe Again’s Album
The local hard rock outfit To Breathe Again are set to release their debut album Breaking the Silence on Friday, Oct. 9. This gem is comprised of 10 tracks featuring a handful of one-word titles such as “Warriors,” “Enemy,” “Shell,” “Give,” and “Scream.”
The material was recorded, mixed, and mastered in guitarist Greg Tyzzer’s bedroom. The album will be available on release day on every major streaming platform. Right now, the only way to get your hands on a physical copy is to hit them up directly.
The guys would like to have some sort of release party, but that’s still up in the air since we’re still dealing with COVID restrictions. Also, the band is still looking to add a couple permanent members to the lineup. Good luck with the release, guys!
Sample some Ambrosia
Ambrosia Orchard Cidery & Meadery will host its second Bee-Day Bash on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 2-10 p.m. Believe it or not, they have been serving up those tasty beverages south of Fort Wayne along U.S. 27 for two years now.
To celebrate, a few of our top craft brew makers will be on site, including Hop River, 2Toms, and Dot & Line. Laz’s Cuban Café will serve up some of the best authentic Cuban cuisine, so come hungry.
Plus, what sort of celebration would it be without music? Starting at 3 p.m., Stratton Way will hit the Orchard stage followed by Jana Debusk.
Deathe Metal Album
The local death metal act Cremated Souls will have their Masterpiece of the Inverted One CD release party at The Muse on Main on Friday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. They will be joined that evening by friends Bhopal Assault, Kill Thy Neighbor, Mantra of Morta, and Pharohound.
This is an all-ages show with tickets $10 at the door and $8 for presale online. The first 10 people through the door will get a merch discount from Cremated Souls, so get there early and go home with some swag.
