The Sweetwater Performance Pavilion has announced a couple of shows for their upcoming summer concert series.

First up, on Thursday, May 12, at 7 p.m., will be Grammy award-nominated Needtobreathe for an intimate acoustic evening in support of their latest critically acclaimed studio album, Into the Mystery

Boasting gold and platinum No. 1 songs, sold-out crowds, and past tours tours with Train, Taylor Swift, and Tim McGraw, the “Into the Mystery Acoustic Tour” promises a memorable, genre-defying evening of inspirational and contagious joy.

The Nashville, Tennessee-based breakout Patrick Droney will be the opening act that evening so make sure to be in your seat at showtime.

The other announcement is for the return of the Yacht Rock Revue, who will roll into town Thursday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m.

The Atlanta-based YRR tours the country playing a variety of smooth hits from the ’70s and ’80s, including hits from the likes of Christopher Cross, Hall & Oates, Lionel Ritchie, and Kenny Loggins

The seven-piece act released their first full-length album of originals in 2020 titled Hot Dads in Tight Jeans. Tickets for both shows can be purchased in person at Sweetwater or at sweetwaterpavilion.com.

Whatzup will keep you posted on future bookings at the pavilion, so stay tuned.

Flashback hosting Fort Wayne Maker’s Market

Healing Hands Spa & Boutique presents the Fort Wayne Maker’s Market on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 5 p.m.-midnight at Flashback Live.

There will actually be two sides to the market that day for all to enjoy. The YOLO Event Center side will host all ages and include dozens of local vendors, a silent auction, live painters, a 50/50 raffle, food trucks, open mic with Alejandro Soto, and more.

Meanwhile, the Flashback Live side will host live music by Grateful Groove, Phil Plays Dead, Dave P, and Gracie Joe. You must be at least 21 years old to enter Flashback. The $6 cover at the door will be used to keep vendor fees minimal at future Fort Wayne Maker’s Markets.

Harrold to play 2Tom’s Frozen Firkin Fest

Todd Harrold has been selected to perform at the second annual Frozen Firkin Fest at 2Toms Brewing on Feb. 26 from 2-6 p.m.

Although the festival will be taking place outdoors, the tent/igloo will be heated. Still, dress appropriately for the weather. The day will include firkin tappings from more than 20 guest breweries, hot food, fine tunes by Harrold, and more.

The taproom will be operating under regular hours, but you must have a ticket to enter the outdoor festival space.

Tickets can be purchased event.ontaptickets.com.

Acclaimed bassist hosting master class

Heads up to all the bass players out there. Sweetwater will be hosting a Bass Master Class with Rhonda Smith on Thursday, March 17, from 7-9 p.m.

Who is Rhonda Smith? She just happens to be an award-winning bassist known for her longtime tenure as bassist for Prince, performing with Chaka Khan, Beyoncé, and many others. She is currently touring with Jeff Beck

Smith has been featured in numerous music videos, appeared on magazine covers, and appeared on television shows. One thing is for certain, you will leave this class a better bassist.

For more information on the master class, go to sweetwater.com.
