Oak Farm Montessori is offering a weeklong summer day camp to produce Moana Jr. the week of July 26. The camp is open to grades first through eighth, and participants will have the opportunity to audition and perform or work backstage. 

Led by directors Mindy Cox and Gavin Drew, campers will audition for roles, learn music and choreography, and explore the culture of Pacific Islanders — all in a week. 

The final performance will be on Friday, July 30, at the Community Learning Center in Kendallville. The Oak Farm bus service will transport campers there from the school.

Junk Food Alley

One of the most widely anticipated features of the returning Three Rivers Festival is Junk Food Alley. Food vendors from all over the nation participate to serve an average of 60,000 people each year. 

Junk Food Alley is open each day of the festival and is located next to Festival Plaza. It includes Mr. Beefy’s, Sundae Factory, Richardson’s Freakshow of Fried Oddities, Jill’s Sweet Treats, Out Law Fries, Slush Factory, Burger Bob’s, Hot Wisconsin Cheese, Red Barn Elephant Ears, Arctic Shaved Ice, Sati Babi, and Wither’s Elephant Ears.

O’Brien Art Show at Dash-In

Artist Bridget O’Brien will show her work at the Dash-In from July 12 to Aug. 22. 

“I seek to create work that is purgative and cleansing for both roles involved in the dance of art making and spectatorship,” O’Brien wrote on her Facebook event. “Through the use of an exaggerated palette and magical realism, I wish to create landscapes both aesthetically comforting and subtly distorted — implying an inert responsibility in the idealistic continuation of landscape painting itself.” 

Due to the location, the event is for ages 21 and older.

Art This Way: Veterans Mural

The Fort Wayne Downtown Improvement District has put out a call for muralists as part of their Art This Way series. This display is meant to honor past and current veterans who served in the active military, naval, or air service. 

Any proposed design should consider scale, be vibrant, and celebrate those who have served and currently serve our country. Artist stipend range is $6,000 to $9,000, and a budget of $2,000 in supplies will be provided. The application is available at artthiswayfw.com and must be submitted by Aug. 1.

JA Wine & Beer Festival

The Junior Achievement Wine & Beer Festival will be from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, July 30, at Parkview Field. The event is a fundraiser that gives thousands of area kids JA money management programs to live their best life.

The festival features wine, beer, and spirits samples from popular Indiana wineries, breweries, and distilleries, as well as live music, activities, a raffle for a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 23-Year bourbon, and an online auction. 

General admission is $40 and includes wine and beer samples from vendors, food available for purchase, and a tasting glass. Premium admission is $55 and includes early admission at 5 p.m. VIP admission is $90 and includes all of the above, plus access to the 400 Club VIP area, the bourbon tasting, an exclusive wine tasting, and complimentary food.

Free Yoga Sessions along the St. Marys

Bring your yoga mat to Promenade Park for free yoga sessions along the St. Marys River led by Chelsea Vona, owner of Discover Yoga.

Revolutionary War on the Frontier

The Old Fort will present “Revolutionary War on the Frontier” this Saturday, July 17, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, July 18, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 

The east coast was in open revolt in 1775, but what was happening on the frontier? Take a trip to Post Miami, witness what it was like to live in a British trading post, and watch as merchants trade their wares while the British Army keeps a close eye out for any rebels. 

Demonstrations will include military and merchant life, period cooking, period artisans, and weapons.
