The Fort Wayne Philharmonic are known for tackling challenging music, so they will show no fear as they plunge into the catalog of some Rock and Roll Hall of Famers in “The Music of Queen: A Rock Symphony,” on July 25 at Sweetwater Performance Pavilion.

Everyone knows Queen’s biggest hits such as “Bohemian Rhapsody.” But Queen have always been much more than a hit single.

Offering a diverse menu of styles, sometimes within the confines of a single song like they do in “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Queen broke down barriers and stereotypes to win over the hearts and ears of millions during the ’70s, ’80s, and every decade since.

Bridging the gulf between rock n’ roll and classical music, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic have called on conductor/arranger Brent Havens to take the podium to present a program he scored in order to extend the listening experience of Queen’s exceptional tunes.

The Berklee-trained conductor/arranger boasts an impressive resume including writing music for orchestras, feature films, and television. He has also arranged and conducted four other symphonic rock programs on Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Pink Floyd, and the Eagles.

Now he gives us The Music of Queen performed by the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, amplified by a full rock band and vocals. Havens and his ensemble capture Queen’s distinct sound while presenting some familiar and new musical colors.
