Fans of Margaret Atwood have been feasting on the Hulu television series A Handmaid’s Tale, based on a novel which has long sparked devotion and dread, particularly as some viewers believe current events line up with the more troubling aspects of the plot. A new generation has been introduced to Atwood’s work since the series debuted in 2017, and thankfully Atwood is still around to enjoy the gratitude.

Her work can now be enjoyed in another creative effort from the Purdue Fort Wayne Department of Theatre which presents The Penelopiad on WBOI Presents on 89.1 FM and live streamed on their website this weekend, Saturday, March 13, at 7 a.m. Atwood adapted the radio play from her own novel.

The PFW show was directed by Bev Redman featuring student actors working under the current COVID restrictions.

This radio performance is the latest in several productions which have allowed students to gain important stage experiences while giving a performance-starved audience something to enjoy from afar.

Opening again in the 07

With vaccines making their way to our area and more people eligible to receive them, some local eateries are making plans for the future.

Two particular favorites are reopening after being closed for some time. Bravas is back with their famed hot dogs and one of their popular burgers, providing a limited menu now in anticipation of a full return in the future. While they are operating out of the hot dog truck, online ordering is available for their current offerings at bravasfood.com.

Having just reopened for business, the orders are filling quickly, so check their Facebook page regularly to see what hours are available for orders and pickups.

Also returning to the Fort Wayne food scene is the popular 07 Pub which has reopened to carryouts only until they can open their doors again safely, which they hope will be soon.

Going forward you can order online at 07pub.com, and they will be open Wednesday-Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
