Find Yourself is the new EP by the alternative metal act Contrøller, the followup to their Between Here & Now EP that also released this year.
Their latest effort features six solid tracks, including “Echoes of Tomorrow,” “Trust in the Process,” and “Discover.”

The EP will be available in physical and digital formats with copies being available at all Wooden Nickel locations.
Another chance to get your hands on a copy will be at their release party on Friday, Sept. 1, at 8 p.m. in Stan’s Room at Piere’s. It will be a perfect opportunity to hang with some rockers, hear some new material, and go home with a new treasure for your music collection. They will be joined by Escape the Paradigm, Faith in Nothing, and South Bend’s C.S. Nautilus.
After the release show, Contrøller will hit the road for a string of dates in Kentucky, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan.
Chapplemon putting work in
Since their formation in 2020, Chapplemon has garnered the attention of folks with their good dose of punk, pop, funk, and alternative covers and a dose of originals.
The quartet belts out pretty much everything from The Ramones and Cheap Trick to The Clash and Radiohead.
The band is comprised of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Davii Wish, vocalist Cyrus Cristofano, bassist Adin Ivey, and drummer Kyle Phillips. Christopher Gard also lends his drumming duties when Phillips is not with his prog/fusion outfit Random Animal Parts.
Chapplemon have been paying their dues in venues like The Ruin, Muse on Main, Promenade Park, Monday Blues Jams at the Club Room, and this year’s BBQ Ribfest, to name a few.
Paying tribute to System of a Down
Local System of a Down tribute band S.O.D.A.: System of Dying Angels have a pretty hefty gig coming up Friday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m.
That evening, they will take to the Piere’s stage to perform System of a Down’s self-titled debut album in its entirety in honor of its 25th anniversary. The album featured the hits “Sugar” and “Spiders” and turned them into one of the most successful and mold-breaking bands in the last 20-plus years.
You know how good the album is, so make a point to take it all in at Piere’s.
Joining them that evening will be Nivrana: Tribute to Nirvana, American Idiots Chicago: Green Day Tribute, and local faves My Dinosaurs Wear Ties, who will be paying homage to Paramore.
In addition, S.O.D.A. is scheduled to perform at the Machine Shop in Flint, Michigan, on Jan. 2 for The Family Values Tribute Night. The show will include tributes to System of a Down, Korn, and Limp Bizkit. If you’re thinking about heading up, keep in mind that it’s for ages 18 and over.
New bassist joins Piques
Piques recently added some new blood to the mix with the addition of bassist Ethan Bowers who takes over for the departed Lance Roberts.
Folks got to catch a glimpse of the new lineup at teds beerhall last month, and everything appears to be firing on all cylinders.
As for future dates, the band is taking a brief break and will be back in action later in the fall.
Michael Campbell hosting karaoke
As many of you know, local shredder Michael Campbell of The Band Brother and Angel X suffered a stroke at one of his gigs in June 2021.
It’s been a long road of recovery for The Hillbilly from Hell who has kept a positive attitude.
In March, he got back behind the guitar during Brother’s farewell show at Mitchell’s. Those of you that were in attendance know how special of an evening it was.
Now, it looks as if Campbell will be grabbing the mic once again as he will be hosting karaoke every Wednesday at 4D’s Bar & Grill from 8-11 p.m.
Whether your karaoke or not, come out show your support for Campbell.
Welcome back to the stage!
Feticide welcome new drummer
Our death metal friends Feticide have officially welcomed Zane Butler as their new drummer.
“He showed up right when we were looking for a much-needed improvement to the band and he has f—ing killed it from day one,” the band said in a statement. “This is the first band he’s been a part of, but you’d think he’s been doing it forever.”
The band is working on an EP with hopes of a late October release.
They will perform in Stan’s Room at Piere’s on Sept. 3 with Necessary Death, Mutilation Barbecue, Putrid Stu, and Mutilatred. There’s a $10 cover at the door.
