One of the first merchants to join Union Street Market at Electric Works in November 2022, Brooks BBQ and Chicken say they are moving out to refocus their business. 

Shifting their focus to their food truck and catering business, a Facebook post said owner Cam Brooks “is excited to bring his food to longtime customers in the community and meet new customers as he explores different parts of the city with his food truck.”

North Anthony gets Indian food

BB’s Indian Kitchen, 3235 N. Anthony Blvd., is now open in the former Baan Thai and, before that, Atz’s Ice Cream. 

BB’s is takeout only for now, but they promise to have dine-in soon. They are open 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 5-9:30 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday.

JK O’Donnell’s opens The Pitch on May 3

JK O’Donnell’s Irish Ale House, 121 W. Wayne St., will open its soccer-themed outdoor bar, The Pitch, on Friday, May 3. 

It’s the first season for the highly anticipated addition to the downtown watering hole. 

Cinco de Mayo parties getting started

Get started with your Cinco de Mayo celebration with downtown Auburn’s First Friday get-together from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 3.

The party will feature live music from The McKenney Harrison Duesenchords as well as food that highlights Mexican cuisine. 

Charlie’s Place, 4201 N. Wells St., will wait until 3 p.m. on May 5 to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. 

They’ll have vegetarian, carnitas, and carne asada, tres leche cupcakes, elote nachos, margaritas, and buckets of Modelo and Corona. 

Race to Howie’s for Kentucky Derby party

Saturday is the Kentucky Derby, and Howie’s on Hamilton, 3950 E. Bellefontaine Road, gets in the spirit with a party at 3 p.m. 

The event includes a free snack bar from 3-4 p.m. with mint juleps, Forester mixed drinks, and spire cocktails. They’ll even have the best dressed contest.

Auburn fixture gets popping May 2

Martha’s Popcorn Stand, 112 W. Ninth St., Auburn, has been a tradition for more than 80 years. They’ll open at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, with evening hours continuing through the fall. 

Plan ahead to celebrate Mom

Here are some options to treat Mom to a Mother’s Day brunch.
