After months of renovation, Arcos Restaurante Mexicano is back in a storied venue. Arcos operated a popular north-side eatery at 2868 Dupont Road for five years. This month, the family-owned business showed off their new digs in Waynedale at the original Bandidos at  7510 Winchester Road. 

In January, after 40 years of business, owner Jimmie Schindler Jr. closed the last remaining Bandidos to focus on their new quick-serve concept, Guadalupe’s.

Crumbl opening 2nd spot 

Here some pretty sweet news: Crumbl Cookies is expanding in Fort Wayne. 

After drawing crowds that lined up outside their first store in the Orchard Crossing Shopping Center in December, the company says they hope to open their second location in June at 433 Coliseum Blvd. W.  That’s between Midwest Eye Consultants and Fazoli’s and near Lima Road. 

Penny Drip receives cocktail bar honor

In its first year of operation, Penny Drip, 815 Lafayette Drive, has been honored as one of the best new cocktail bars in the Central U.S.

Penny Drip has been nominated by Tales of the Cocktail Foundation for their 2023 Spirited Award for Best New U.S. Cocktail Bar in the region.

“The Spirited Awards is among the most internationally sought-after in the beverage and hospitality industries,” said Be Better Hospitality, owners of Penny Drip. 

The next round of Spirited Awards judging is June 1. 

Kekionga celebrates craft beverages

Local craft brewers will show off their stuff Saturday, May 13,  from noon-4 p.m. at the Kekionga Craft Fest. 

Attendees will enjoy unlimited samples of the drinks from 2Toms Brewing, Dot & Line, Ambrosia, Chapman’s, GnomeTown, Ash & Elm, Bad Dad, Hop River, Mad Horn Meadery, Mad Anthony, Summit City Brewerks, and of course Kekionga ciders. 

Along with drinks, there will be music, food, and games at Kekionga, 7328 Maplecrest Road.

Tickets range from $10-$40 and are limited to those 21 and older. 

Coffee shop opening in southwest Fort Wayne

Southwest Fort Wayne is buzzing about the upcoming arrival of The Hive Coffee House

Owners say the shop at 7210 Homestead Road, just north of Oley’s Pizza on U.S. 24, will include more than coffee, also serving sandwiches, snacks, tea, smoothies, energy drinks, and protein shakes.  

The plan is to make the shop family friendly with a patio, fireplace, yard games, and a kid’s area, and to open in August.

Deer Park celebrating 25 years

Mark your calendar for Deer Park Irish Pub’s 25th anniversary celebration on June 24.

The daylong celebration will include a special beer,  Deer Park in the 08, created by five breweries in 46808 area is unveiled. There will also be door prizes, live music, barbecue, and a video honoring the tavern. 

Deer Park is located at the corner of Leesburg Road and Spring Street.

O-Cha Thai joins Union Street Market

There’s another dining option at Union Street Market now that O-Cha Thai is serving up their tasty fare at the Electric Works spot. 

The Thai restaurant has been serving up egg rolls, samosas, pad Thai, and other delights at farmers markets in Fort Wayne since 2019.

Mexican seafood now on menu

Mexican seafood restaurant El Puerto de San Blas is open at 5525 Coldwater Road in the Walmart shopping plaza. 

The eatery is getting rave reviews for going deep into the Nayarit style of the country’s Western Pacific cuisine. It’s open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.

Thai, Burmese served up at Amay Kitchen

In the market for Thai and Burmese food? Then the recently opened Amay Kitchen, 3620 N. Clinton St., might be for you.

Located in the spot formerly occupied by Blue Stack Smokehouse near Glenbrook Square, the restaurant is open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. daily.
