Aerosmith have finally announced the rescheduled dates for the band’s Peace Out farewell tour. The original fall 2023 dates were postponed due to a vocal injury sustained by frontman Steven Tyler.
The trek features 41 shows, including Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland on Sept, 29, Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati on Oct. 17, Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Jan. 4, Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, on Jan. 13, Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Jan. 16, and United Center in Chicago on Jan. 19.
Because tickets originally went on sale a year ago, most of these shows are sold out, but you can still get tickets if you are willing to pay a premium on the secondary market.
This is your last chance to see them, supposedly, so it might be worth the extra dough. Who knows, though, this may be the first of many “farewell” tours for the band.
The Black Crowes, who recently released Happiness Bastards, will open the shows.
Deep Purple, Yes partner up
More news from the classic rock front came when Deep Purple and Yes recently announced a joint tour.
While they have more hits than you probably realize, Deep Purple are most known for “Smoke on the Water.” They will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of that song’s release during this tour.
Yes, of course, paved the way for many of the prog rock bands of today and have their share of hits as well, with their most commercially successful album, 90125, selling millions of copies worldwide on the strength of four charting singles including “Owner of a Lonely Hart.”
Check out both Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members when the tour stops at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati on Aug. 21, Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre outside Detroit on Aug. 22, and Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre outside Chicago on Aug. 23.
’90s rockers set for festival
The Rockin’ the Tee Box Music Festival in Jackson, Michigan, has announced this year’s lineup, and it has a distinct ’90s feel to it.
The event features 14 artists on two stages and has food trucks, vendors, yard games, and even putt-putt.
The music is, of course, the big draw, and Alien Ant Farm will invade the festival as headliners on Saturday to round out a bill that also includes The Ataris, Dishwalla, Sponge, and Nine Days.
Tickets are only $40 in advance and they are promoting low beverage prices, which is always a welcome addition to any event.
Loeb to visit 2 regional sites
The ’90s wouldn’t have been the ’90s, in my opinion, without Lisa Loeb seemingly coming out of nowhere to chart her first single, “Stay (I Missed You),” complete with memorable video with scenes from Reality Bites.
Most of us know about her friendship with actor Ethan Hawke helping her secure the spot on that prestigious soundtrack, but I’ll bet a lot of people have lost track of her since.
Well, Loeb has continued recording through the years, has acted, and even had her own TV show.
She will now go out for a few dates to remind us of just how phenomenal she is as a songwriter and performer. Sadly, only a few dates are included in our region with Hendricks Live in Plainfield, west of Indianapolis, scheduled for July 29 and Rose Music Center near Dayton booked on July 30.
