Since 2018, 2Tom’s Brewing has delighted its faithful patrons with unique artisan craft beer, IPAs, and other flavor-rich brews. They will celebrate the milestone with a fifth-anniversary luau 3-8 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the brewery located at 3676 N. Wells St. 

VIP tickets are $125, and perks include early access at 2 p.m., unlimited pours of 2Toms creations, and entry to the Barrel Room VIP Lounge, VIP Only beer, food, and snacks. 

The agenda includes a beer garden with special releases.

Wine & Beerfest supports JA

Junior Achievement’s Wine & Beerfest is Friday, July 28, at Parkview Field in Downtown Fort Wayne. 

The event is one of JA’s biggest fundraisers with funds going to business education programs with area schools. Wine & Beerfest generates revenue while showcasing beer, wine, and other spirits from Indiana distilleries and brewers. 

Tickets start at $45. Premium and VIP admission begins at 5 p.m. with general admission is 6 p.m. The event also features a pair of raffles, one for a 23-year Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon and another for a bourbon bundle featuring six aged bourbons. Alto Grado to leave The Landing this month

Alto Grado Pizza is closing up shop on The Landing. The company announced via Facebook that July 30 will be the last day. 

Owners say it’s a chance to focus on future projects. The social media post indicated it was a strategic move and that the Columbia Street venture was successful. 

Alto Grado will continue to operate their popular food truck and catering business. Alto Grand opened the shop at 111 W. Columbia St. in late 2020.

Korean barbecue chain settting up shop 

Activity is picking up at a new restaurant property on North Clinton. 

All summer, crews have been spotted doing various tasks at what will soon be Dae Gee Korean BBQ. Recently a “coming soon” banner was spotted going up there. Reports have the restaurant at 4910 N. Clinton St. opening in August. 

Dae Gee is a mix of traditional Korean cuisine with an American influence. The Colorado-based chain has grill-top surfaces at each table encouraging customer interaction during meal prep. 

Signage for the former Fish House Restaurant and Seaford Market remains for now. The location was an Outback Steakhouse at one time.

Wings Etc. taking flight on Illinois Road

Wings Etc. is adding a fourth location in Fort Wayne. The latest is on Illinois Road at the corner of River Oak Run, across from the under-contruction Parkview Southwest. 

The sports bar concept has locations on Bluffton Road in Waynedale, in Kroger Marketplace on Dupont Road, and on Maysville Road in the Maysville Point shopping center. The chain has more than 80 locations throughout the U.S.

Closing the Latch, at least temporarily

The Latch String Bar & Grill has closed for the time being. A post on their Facebook page says excise violations have forced the “temporary suspension of their liquor license.” The message adds that they’ll reopen soon. The bar is at 3221 N. Clinton St. near the split with  Lima Road.

Hardee’s flips last burger at Jefferson Pointe

The Hardee’s at Jefferson Pointe closed on July 1. A paper notice posted at the restaurant says they are moving, but there is no mention of a location. 

The Subway that shares the location remains in operation.

Hardee’s two remaining locations in Fort Wayne are at the corner of Lima and West Washington Center roads and in Georgetown North Shopping Center. 

Baba’s Steak expands to Rudisill location

Meanwhile, the former Hardee’s at South Calhoun Street and West Rudisill Boulevard has new life as Baba’s Steak and Lemonade. The store opened last week. 

Baba’s now has four Fort Wayne locations with their other locations at East State Boulevard and Hobson Road, South Anthony Boulevard near Decatur Road, and Wells Plaza.

Pizza Junction opens on limited basis

Pizza Junction in Huntington has officially reopened with limited service. For now, it’s serving only pizza and breadsticks with delivery and carry-out are currently the only options. A full menu and dine-in should be available in the next few weeks. 

According to their Facebook, they ran out of dough on one of the first nights they were open.
