Have you seen a young, local musician whose talent blew your mind? Whatzup encourages you to nominate them for its annual 20 Under 20 Awards.

The Sweetwater Academy and Mynett Music are partnering with Whatzup to recognize the abundance of youthful musical talent in Northeast Indiana.

The Whatzup 20 Under 20 Awards highlight talented young musicians throughout the region.

“This will be the second year that Whatzup has selected 20 Under 20 honorees,” said Jon Swerens, editor of Whatzup. “Last year’s nominees were fantastic. We’re really looking forward to seeing the next crop of musicians come in.”

Whatzup will feature these 20 up-and-coming local stars in a future print issue, as well as at whatzup.com.

Last year, 20 young musicians with a diverse array of melodic talents were featured in Whatzup as winners of the competition.

Friends, family, parents, and music educators are encouraged to nominate local, talented young musicians for this award.

To be considered for the 20 Under 20 award, nominees must be under 20 years of age as of March 24, 2022, and live in one of the following Indiana counties: Allen, Wabash, Whitley, Noble, Wells, Adams, Huntington, Kosciusko, DeKalb, or Steuben.

An expert panel of judges will lead in the selection of honored musicians based on criteria including:

– Musical skill and knowledge

– Community and school music activities

– Academic performance and more
