The Fort Wayne City Council has unanimously approved the expansion of the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo’s African Journey habitat.

The habitat consists of more than 10 acres of land which will be rezoned to limited industrial use. That will allow for the construction of an African veldt barn and several smaller structures where you can see zebras, wildebeest, and ostriches.

The zoo, established in 1966, hosts 600,000 visitors per year and has been featured in USA Today’s 10 Best List.
