Wunderkammer, Content Creators of Color, and Clydia Early have partnered to host “Indigenous Futurism: Stories from Stardust” on Friday, June 24, from 5:45-8:30 p.m. at 3402 Fairfield Ave. 

The event, which includes Indigenous creators discussing the ways their methods of storytelling shape the futures of Indigenous peoples, was timed to lead into Independence Day celebrations as a reminder of our history and how we can move forward together. 

Moderated by Rachel Youngman from the podcast Native ChocTalk, panelists include Grace Dillon, Marlena Myles, and Mark D. Williams.

Plymouth Gets in on Pride Celebration

Plymouth Congregational Church will celebrate Pride Month on Saturday, June 25,  at 12:30 p.m. 

The event will include an opening workshop (“Biblical Defense for LGBTQ+ Folks and Allies”), resource tables, food trucks, kids’ activities like sidewalk chalk, bubble paintings, and selfie stations, local musicians, yoga meditation, and a family friendly drag show slated for 3-4 p.m. 

Guests can also visit Fort Wayne Pride’s new offices and Pride Center next door. 

Monarch Monitor Training at Eagle Marsh

The Little River Wetlands Project is recruiting monarch butterfly monitors who check weekly for monarch adults, caterpillars, and eggs at Eagle Marsh and Arrowhead preserves. 

As a part of the citizen science Monarch Larva Monitoring Program through the University of Minnesota, a  training session will be Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to noon to learn how to identify different monarch life stages and how to monitor and record data for this nationwide tracking effort. 

Weekly monitoring occurs between July and September, and substitute monitors are available to help during vacations.

Pike’s Luau to Benefit Wags & Wiggles Rescue

On Saturday, June 25, Pike’s Pub will host their annual luau at 7536 Winchester Road to benefit Wags & Wiggles Rescue. 

The fifth annual Pupper Run will start at noon, and the benefit will begin at 3 p.m., including a 50/50 raffle, tip boards, luau games, live music, and prizes. 

Donation items to fill a truck are requested, including Purina ONE puppy and adult food, puppy pads, collars, and toys. 

Wags & Wiggles is a nonprofit no-kill organization dedicated to reducing overpopulation, abuse, and neglect of domestic animals.

Rescue Mission Treasure House Grand Opening

The Rescue Mission’s Treasure House will hold a grand opening at 10202 Coldwater Road on Wednesday, June 29, at 9:30 a.m. 

The opening will include a ribbon-cutting, giveaways, refreshments, and a shaved ice truck. Giveaways will continue through the rest of the week.

Podcast Meetup at Sweetwater Sound

Brian Biedenbach, podcaster, video content creator, and founder of Summit City Studios, will host a podcast meetup for podcasters and would-be podcasters in the community to share ideas, hear from industry pros, and learn about gear and techniques. 

The event will be at Sweetwater, 5501 U.S. 30 West, on Wednesday, June 29, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Additional podcast meetups are scheduled for July 27, Aug. 31, Sept. 28, Oct. 26, and Nov. 30.
