Widely known as one of the greatest singers of all-time, Whitney Houston left us way too soon. Her legend lives on, however, and is presented in the most respectful way in “The Greatest Love,” a tribute to Houston, her life, and her music.
Presented on Valentine’s Day, February 14, at Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert, “The Greatest Love” is described as “mind-blowingly spot on.” Belinda Davids, a chart-topping artist in her home country of South Africa, along with a backing band, perform a beautifully crafted tribute to Houston.
The two-hour production will fill you with joy, nostalgia, and wonderment as you are taken on a heartfelt musical journey through Houston’s greatest hits including “I Will Always Love You,” “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” “How Will I Know,” and of course, “The Greatest Love of All.”
State-of-the-art sound, lighting, and theatrical effects add to the experience.
But it is Davids, the star of the show, who presents Houston’s music in a way that honors her memory. A lifelong fan, Davids beat out 15,000 hopefuls for the role, completing a life-long connection with the superstar to whom she pays homage.
Directed by Johnny Van Grinsven and launched in 2013, the show has already been presented in several countries across four continents.
