The summer is winding down so the Village at Winona is celebrating the good times of the season, friends that were made, and days on the lake that made lasting memories.

It will also be a time to look toward what the next year holds as the last bash of summer is celebrated with Canal Days on August 24.

The traditional day of family friendly activities begins at 10 a.m. with the opening of the arts and crafts booths where you will find hundreds of homemade items that will make great gifts for loved ones or look really good in your own home. A variety of kid’s activities including games, crafts, and entertainment takes place in various areas from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and should keep the little ones busy most of the afternoon. The day then culminates with the always popular cardboard boat regatta, where participants make a boat out of cardboard, bravely get in it, and hope it stays afloat as they paddle it around the lake.

The Village at Winona sits on the shores of beautiful Winona Lake, contiguous with Warsaw, and is a destination spot that is listed on the National Register for Historic Places. At one time it was the home of professional baseball player Billy Sunday, the Indiana School of Photography, the now defunct Winona College, and the Winona Lake School of Theology.

In addition to celebrations like Canal Days, the Village at Winona offers many options for bikers and hikers as well as a several options for dining and shopping at locally owned stores and restaurants.
