Fort Wayne has a diverse music scene. Case in point is Summit City Brass, an eight-piece band with a horn section at its center. Their new album, Blinding Light, will be released Sept. 28 during a show at Welch’s Ale House. Damon Mitchell will open the show.
During the night’s festivities, Summit City Brass will perform all the songs from Blinding Light, along with a few other favorites. The album garnered a rave review from the Buzz Music blog and is not only filled with some really good tunes, but also offers the listener something more in that its theme is a commentary on the state of our society.
While most might think that theme sounds a little dark, SBC were careful to make sure they added hints of optimism along the way to keep listeners interested and wanting more. The performances are energizing and dynamic, with surprises around every corner, keeping things interesting even upon subsequent listens.
At the show, you will see and hear much of the same: an energized and exciting performance that takes you back to a simpler time, when great songs and performances actually mattered. mixing rhythm and blues with jazz and horns.
