Award winning country music star John Conlee will take the stage at the Monroeville Community Park on August 23.

One of the most respected vocalists to emerge from the urban cowboy era, Conlee was a force on country radio as well as the Billboard country music charts between 1978 and 2004 as he recorded 11 albums and charted 32 singles including his first hit, “Rose Colored Glasses.”

Known for his ability to pick out hit songs from other songwriters and make them his own, Conlee also had success with “Lady Lay Down,” “Backside of Thirty,” “Common Man,” “In My Eyes,” and “As Long As I’m Rockin’ with You.” Memorable choruses combined with his distinctive melancholy voice became his trademark. His last number one came in 1986 in the form of “Got My Heart Set On You.” A move from Columbia Records to the ill-fated 16th Avenue Records effectively ended his recording career.

Never much for touring, Conlee subsequently began to devote his time instead to charity work (often on behalf of American farmers), raising his family, and running his own farm outside Nashville. Consequently, this concert is a rare opportunity to catch the country music legend in a live setting and is presented by St. Rose School, an institution dedicated to educating children spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and physically, helping them attain academic excellence.
