After the Thanksgiving meals are consumed and you’ve gone out to get all of the Black Friday deals, it will be time to focus on Small Business Saturday, a day where we frequent locally owned businesses that keep profits right here in our community. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better way to do that than heading out to Piere’s to support the Fort Wayne Comedy Club as they present Rip Micheals and Blair Christian. Though this pair of names may not ring a bell, both have been featured on MTV’s Wild ’N Out over the years, and both have established themselves as true stand-up comedians as well. Micheals’ brash, in-your-face satire led to him to share the stage alongside comedic legends like Martin Lawrence, Cedric the Entertainer, Kevin Hart, and Mo’Nique. His mixture of intelligence and originality makes him one of the industry’s most versatile and sought-after comedians, leading him to be featured on a variety of TV shows and films including NBC’s Last Call With Carson Daly, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Nurse Jackie, Mr. Robinson, Men in Black 3, Love Don’t Cost a Thing, and Players Ball. Christian appeared on Wild ’N Out during seasons six to eight, getting to comedy unconventionally by beginning her career as a dancer and choreographer for hip hop icons such as Missy Elliott, Ciara, and many others. That experience allowed her to quickly find a comfort and energetic presence for the stage that few performers have. Her love of comedy led her to hit the stand-up circuit, helping to make Nov. 27 a likely “can’t miss” opportunity for laughs.
