The 70th annual Turtle Days Festival takes place in Churubusco on June 12-15. The oldest continuously running festival of Indiana is held annually in “Turtletown” and is always one of the most talked-about events of the summer. This year’s festivities are focused on “Saluting Turtletown Heroes.”

Celebrating the legend of Oscar the Turtle and The Beast of Busco, Turtle Days is filled with contests, vendors, concessions, music, games, rides, fireworks, and activities for the entire family. Things get started with the Miss Turtle Days Pageant, where not only will they crown a new Miss Turtle Days, but everyone in attendance will have a chance to meet Disney’s favorite sisters, Elsa and Anna from Frozen.

Huesman Amusement Company has been tapped to provide the thrills once again this year with their wide selection of rides including the Gravitron, Zapper, and Twister.

The big day for the festival is Saturday, which kicks off with a 5K and 10K run at 8 a.m. followed by a parade that is sure to feature a variety of fire trucks, marching bands, clowns, and candy. Kids Day is up next, giving the little ones a chance at an afternoon of free fun with many games and prizes available to win.

Scheduled entertainment for the festival includes the country sounds of Cadence on June 13, old time rock n’ roll with Frankie & The Bananas Friday night, and more country with The Band Cheyenne on Saturday.

The whole thing is topped off by the grand finale fireworks taking place just after dark on Saturday.
