If you’re having trouble getting into the spirit of Christmas this year, then maybe The Christmas Post has exactly what you need to remind you of the reason for the season. The musical will be presented Dec. 6-7 at First Assembly of God in Fort Wayne.
Since its debut in 1998, The Christmas Post has delighted audiences with its original book and score inspired by two of Norman Rockwell’s best-known Life Magazine covers, recalling the days when The Saturday Evening Post found its way into American homes on a regular basis. This Broadway-style musical is fast and fun while offering a clear message of the true meaning of Christmas in its entertaining dialogue and drama. Set in fictional Homesboro, Ind., and taking place on Christmas Eve 1947, The Christmas Post transports audiences into a world of ordinary Americans who, just like people today, need to rediscover their faith and be reminded of what Christmas is all about.
Attendees are asked to bring a “single-serving” food donation for students at Smith Academy for Excellence. Smith Academy for Excellence is a tuition-free, all-boys charter school located in Fort Wayne. The school takes advantage of family and community support to administer a strong comprehensive academic curriculum that includes character education and service-learning projects, which develops young men into lifelong leaders.
