Heads Up! This article is 4 years old.
Pop punk will never die, and Welsh band Neck Deep are out to prove it. Despite the decline in popularity of the genre in the United States over the last decade, pop punk is still alive and well. Neck Deep are hoping to lead resurgence with their high-energy, emotional, and visually stunning performances.
Undoubtedly the most successful British band of the genre, winning Rock Sound’s Best Live Band award last year, the Alternative Press Music Award for Best Live Band in 2016, and Kerrang’s Best New Band in 2014, Neck Deep are known primarily for their bright, sunny outlook, a pop punk style adapted from their American brethren, and a penchant for writing unforgettable hooks. Hoping to duplicate the success they have had in their home country, Neck Deep bring their act to the States this fall, including a stop at The Clyde Theatre in Fort Wayne on October 3.
Absolutely on par with the major predecessors of the genre including Blink-182, Sum 41, New Found Glory, All Time Low, and the like, Neck Deep are all that and more as they add a bit of introspection and attitude to the mix to create an updated sound for a new generation. Pop punk with a side of intellect and introspection? Neck Deep just might be the genre’s saving grace.
