Handel’s Messiah is synonymous with Christmas, representing the season with some of the most recognizable music ever created. It is, in short, the standard bearer of the holidays.
The Bach Collegium will help bring this timeless classic to life again this year — with a little help from some friends — when they offer a chance for anybody and everybody to join in the fun with their annual Messiah Sing-Along, taking place Dec. 8 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in downtown Fort Wayne.
Join in the fun as collegium president Thomas Remenschneider directs the piece that dates back to 1741. This is an event where professionals, amateurs, and first-timers come together to celebrate Handel’s masterpiece and help kick off the holiday season. Bring your own score or borrow a copy that the collegium will have available. Audience members are not required to sing, but all are invited to join in. They know singing makes you hungry, so as a bonus for attending, coffee and cookies will be available.
