There are a lot of Beatles tribute acts out there, but few are as authentic or entertaining as The Mersey Beatles. The band comes to The Clyde Theatre on Oct. 19.

Hailing from the same city as The Beatles themselves, these Liverpool natives are the real deal: four lifelong friends that share a love of arguably the greatest rock band of all time. The band spent a decade honing their sound at the Cavern Club, playing near the spot where the Quarrymen started their “long and winding road” to becoming the Beatles nearly a half century ago. They even became the first Beatles tribute band to have played at the Cavern more times than the Beatles.

Because they are true super fans of the Fab Four, The Mersey Beatles pride themselves on portraying The Beatles in the most authentic way possible, paying attention to every detail from costumes and instruments to mastering every note of every song, playing them the same way they were originally played by John, Paul, George, and Ringo. Every song and every moment are a celebration of the music that will live forever, from the early hits that helped create Beatlemania through Sgt. Pepper’s and the more melodic later works.

Additionally, Julia Baird, John Lennon’s sister and the director of the Cavern Club, will be in attendance at the show, selling and signing copies of her book, Imagine This: Growing Up with My Brother John Lennon at the general merchandise table before, during, and after the show. If you need more convincing, look no further than Baird’s commendation: The Mersey Beatles are “one of the best you will ever see.”
