Songwriter Matthew Perryman Jones wears his heart on his sleeve. With several years of experience under his belt, his musical and moral compass points toward an unexplored landscape.
For the most part, Jones’ songs are introspective and thought provoking, but at times we get a glimpse at unusual inspirations like the letters Vincent Van Gogh penned to his brother Theo, the ideas proffered by Federico García Lorca, and the poetic verses of poets Hafiz and Rumi. If that sounds a bit heavy, Jones has a unique ability to turn that heaviness into instantly memorable songs that offer more than some of the usual fare you might hear on the radio every day.
Jones has released seven full-length albums, three EPs, and a handful of singles. Songs from across his catalog have been featured in dozens of film and TV placements and tours have taken him across the U.S. and abroad to share stages with legends like Shawn Colvin and Patty Griffin, as well as the Ten Out of Tenn songwriter collective of which he is a part. He will appear at Sweetwater Sound on November 6 with special guest Damon Mitchell.
