The annual Hobnobben Film Festival, celebrating the art of film and filmmaking, takes place October 11-13 at Cinema Center in downtown Fort Wayne.
Hobnobben features an eclectic mix of international, regional, student, and locally produced films that are chosen specifically to please fierce cinephiles as well as casual movie goers. This year’s festival kicks off with the opening reception in the Spectator’s Lounge, followed by an awards ceremony and the film Before You Know It, about two sisters who discover that the mother they thought was dead is actually alive and starring in a soap opera.
Saturday’s festivities get started early with four films commencing at 10:30 a.m., followed by no fewer than 14 other films in the Main Theater and 16 more in the Spectator’s Lounge. These are mostly short films and student films, but a few narratives and documentaries are included as well.
The night will be capped off with Lord Blood-Rah’s Halloween Terror Tonight Show, a live show with the myTV star presenting hand-picked Halloween and horror short subjects followed by a screening of the horror classic White Zombie, starring Bela Lugosi.
Sunday wraps things up with nine more films in the Main Theater and 19 others in the Spectator’s Lounge.
With that many flicks to choose from, there is sure to be plenty of offerings to please just about everyone. The only problem you’ll likely have is making time to see everything you want to see. Block off the weekend. You’ve now got plans.
