With the huge rise in popularity of craft beers and microbrews over the last decade, we have seen a corresponding increase in beer related festivals. Fort Wayne has been blessed to have several of these types of festivals take place within its borders this summer, but none quite like the upcoming Fort Wayne Veg’n Brew Fest.
The Veg’n Brew Fest puts a new twist on the beerfest experience by introducing the vegan lifestyle into the equation. The aim of the festival, taking place October 6 at Headwaters Park, is to celebrate compassion for animals, offer health tips, and improve the environment through a plant-based lifestyle.
Food For Life instructor Laurie Beck will be on hand to present cooking demonstrations that show you how to get healthier while still eating foods that are delicious and nutritious. The Sustainable Duo, Carly Bergman and Brendan Fitzgerald, are slated to present ideas on how to become “Zero Wasted” by decreasing the amount of waste you and your family send to landfills by transitioning to a minimal living lifestyle. There will also be yoga sessions available, including kid’s yoga, children’s book readings, and a panel discussion about the Vegan Lifestyle. Music throughout the day will be provided by The Be Colony, KelsiCote Amig@s, and Alyssa Enright.
Food will be available from a variety of vendors and, of course, there is the beer. Several area breweries, including Trubble Brewing, Hop River Brewing Company, Junk Ditch Brewing Company, and Chapman’s Brewing Company, will be on site presenting some of the best of what The Fort has to offer in the form of one of the world’s most popular beverages. Admission is free.
