Cole Porter is recognized as one of America’s best known songwriters of the early 1900s. The Peru, Ind., native is responsible for such standards as “All Through the Night,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye,” and “From This Moment,”
Porter was the king of the Broadway musicals during that time and has been cited as an influence by many artists including Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Rosemary Clooney, and even U2.
So what would you do for a chance to share a meal with a legend like that?
Just buy a ticket to The Honeywell House in Wabash for Jan. 24, the night it hosts “Dinner with Cole Porter.”
Of course, the real Porter won’t be there in person, but he will definitely be there in spirit as Jason Gornto plays some of Porter’s best-known songs.
Gornto plays after a dinner that also celebrates the 145th birthday of Mark Honeywell, a Wabash native and founder of the Honeywell Corp., a company that now employs over 100,000 workers globally.
It’ll be delightful and it’ll be delovely as you feast on a menu of that includes shrimp bisque, chicken breast, blue cheese mashed potatoes, baby carrots, and a dessert of Italian lemon cream cake with raspberry coulis.
Great music and great food are a sure-fire recipe for a great evening. Reservations are required.
