Fort Wayne resident Damon Mitchell will release his debut EP Elise on March 2. To celebrate, the singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist is putting on a show at C2G Music Hall the same night.
Described as “a well-crafted cross between The Beatles and Death Cab for Cutie,” Elise was produced by Dave Martin, an accomplished musician and producer who once owned and operated Java Jive Studios in Nashville and is now a part of Sweetwater’s esteemed roster of producers and musicians.
The EP features hook-laden musical wares cleverly combining influences from the past, harkening the craftsmanship and energy of the ’60s and ’70s. Mitchell breathes a modern freshness into the style that makes it relevant for the 21st Century, putting him on the map as one of the more promising up and coming local musicians and a future “must-see” artist.
Mitchell’s band is chock full of talent as well, featuring Martin, guitarist Audie Blaylock who has played with Rhonda Vincent, fiddler Brian Arrowood of Travis Tritt’s band, drummer Nick Tamez, and Max Mitchell. The show will be preceded by a special screening of the music video for the single “Elise,” presented by its director Alison Resac. In addition, there will be a selfie wall, gift bags for everybody, and a special gift for the first 50 people to come through the door.
