Riverfront Fort Wayne takes on a new endeavor as it presents the first installment of their Confluence Kitchen series.
By definition, a confluence is a collaboration tool used to share knowledge. In that spirit, this series is designed to celebrate different world cultures, giving those who are a part of these cultures the chance to teach people about them and giving those in attendance a chance to learn and grow, thus helping to create a more unified, knowledgeable and tolerant society.
Japan is the focus of the initial program taking place on Jan. 18 with activities planned to highlight the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of The Land of the Rising Sun.
Opportunities to learn simple Japanese phrases, snap selfies in a Japanese-themed photo booth, and learn the traditional art of origami are just some of the activities planned for the event.
Of course, there will be food. Take the opportunity to swap recipes with natives of the land or simply partake in the Japanese culture by purchasing some authentic Japanese food from one of the vendors on hand.
This showcase takes place in downtown Fort Wayne at the Park Foundation Pavilion inside Promenade Park and is open to the public, but registration is required by Jan. 13.
