The Fort Wayne Indoor presents “Art in the Skatepark 2,” an evening of art, music, food, and entertainment taking place May 25.

Organized by local artist Amber Marie Cox to help raise funds for the indoor skatepark, the evening includes the Bravas food truck feeding hungry guests and offering a special vegetarian option in addition to their regular menu, DJ Epitaph providing the musical entertainment, and a unique art experience in a place you wouldn’t necessarily expect to see art.

Over the past year, Cox and her crew have been collecting broken or otherwise discarded skateboards from supporters or that have just been left around the park. They now have more than 50 skateboard decks that have been made into pieces of art and given back to them for this silent auction.

A true community event, artists from around the city and beyond have come together to show support for this common cause. Some of those artists include Fort Wayne artist Jeff Anderson, Sean Peters from Eclectic Art Tattoo Gallery in Lansing, Mich., artists from the world-famous Santa Cruz Skateboards, and local tattoo artists from Cardinal, Blood Money, Black Anvil, and more.

Just completing its fifth year, the Fort Wayne Indoor provides a place for kids and the young at heart to practice the sport they love and spend time with like-minded individuals in a safe and positive recreational environment. In providing this space, The Fort Wayne Indoor allows for the opportunity to build self-confident and enriched lives by becoming a part of a unique community.

Proceeds from the event will go directly toward building a learner zone, an officially designated place within the skatepark where new skaters can learn about the sport and gain new skills.
