As buildings continue to pop up downtown, it’s hard to miss construction of the new multi-use facility The Pearl at 248 W. Main St.

While work continues at the site, the passion project of Chuck and Lisa Surack has lined up one of its first commercial tenants, Ducky’s.

Ducky’s will be a family-friendly, full-service restaurant and is the latest venture of Johnny Perez and Esli Barrón Perez’s Te Gustó Hospitality, which includes Mercado on The Landing, Papi’s Pizza, and the upcoming Spoke & Ivy on Main Street.

“I was searching for a space in the center of Fort Wayne’s growing downtown,” Johnny Perez said. “And The Pearl I see as a symbol of that growth. It’s the right caliber space to host a brand like ours.”

Ducky’s will offer items like smash burgers and spicy chicken strips as well as cocktails.

On top of the cuisine, Ducky’s will also have something a bit different: duckpin bowling. Like bowling, but on a smaller scale, duckpin bowling will be something all can enjoy.

The Pearl is expected to be completed this year.

Bru Burger should be a smash at The Landing

The Landing continues to blossom with trendy dining options.

Cunningham Restaurant Group, which operates Marquee on The Landing, have announced they will add another option: Bru Burger Bar at 118 W. Columbia St., the space formally occupied by Gnometown Brewing and Landing Brewing Company.

They are expected to open this summer and serve a custom blend of sirloin, chuck, and brisket burgers. The company says they’ll use local produce.

In 2022, Reader’s Digest placed the Bru’s chef-crafted burger on their list of the 100 best burgers in the United States.

It’s the 11th Indiana location for Bru; they also have several locations around Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Ohio, Bloomington, Evansville, and South Bend.

Besides burgers, there are also buttermilk and Nashville hot chicken tenders, salads, sandwiches, chili, nachos, and hand-dipped milkshakes. Cocktails, wine, and some gluten-free and vegetarian options, including gluten-free desserts.

Baker Street SteakHouse, 4820 N. Clinton St., say they’re fighting back against inflation by offering a new menu with lower prices in time for summer.
