Sweetwater Performance Pavilion are continuing to fill out their summer season with the announcement that Los Lonely Boys will come to town Sunday, June 22.

The Grammy award-winning trio from San Angelo, Texas, will showcase the band’s sibling chemistry that evening with exceptional musicianship, blistering guitar solos, and strong vocal harmonies.

The band are probably best known for their debut single “Heaven,” a No. 1 hit on Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in 2004.

Last year, the band released Resurrection, their first new album in more than a decade.

Whether you’ve seen them before or for the first time, these guys will blow into the Sweetwater Performance Pavilion like the blues rock tsunami they are and will be worth every penny of that admission.

Tickets for Los Lonely Boys go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, by stopping by Sweetwater Sound or going to sweetwaterpavilion.com or ticketmaster.com.

Bluegrass, folk jam at bagel shop

On Wednesday, Jan. 29, local musician Jonah Leatherman will host a bluegrass and folk jam at Davey’s Delicious Bagels, 1006 Broadway.

This is a calling to all the pickers, grinners, singers, and even listeners to come out for a free all-ages jam. All that’s asked from you is to bring an instrument or listening ears to Davey’s from 6-8 p.m.

Not to neglect your mouth, but you might as well sink your teeth into a Happy Hippy, TinCaps Turkey, or any other of Davey’s mouthwatering bagels.

Liverpool Legends go beyond the hits

I know what you’re thinking: All Beatles tributes are the same.

Well, not necessarily. They all try to captivate the Beatles’ sound, look, and feel in various ways. One might focus on a specific era, while another will perform numerous wardrobe changes and take you on a journey through their career. Sure, they can never be The Beatles, but they can be bloody close.

Luckily for us, we’ve had our share of Beatles tributes stroll through town over the years. That streak will continue as The Clyde Theatre has announced Liverpool Legends will make a stop Saturday, Aug. 16.

These four lads were hand-picked by Louise Harrison, sister of the late George Harrison. Together, they have toured the world including performances at iconic venues such as the Rose Bowl and Carnegie Hall.

What makes this band stand out from other tributes is that they’re not afraid to stray from the biggest hits, peppering its shows with deep cuts and lesser-known gems.

Tickets for Liverpool Legends go on sale at noon on Friday, Jan. 24, at clydetheatre.com, over the phone at (800) 514-3849, or in person at The Clyde box office and Sweetwater Sound.

Second show added for Bargatze at Coliseum

Due to popular demand, a second show for comedian Nate Bargatze has been added at Memorial Coliseum on Sunday, May 11.

A 3 p.m. matinee show has been added in addition to the previously arranged 7 p.m. show.

It sure says something about Bargatze and Fort Wayne’s love for a good laugh to add an additional show.

Tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.com and in person at the Coliseum box office.

Learn guitar licks from Southside Denny

A heads up to all the guitar players out there.

Sweetwater Sound will be offering a blues rock improvisation guitar workshop with Southside Denny on Tuesday, March 4, from 7-9 p.m.

During the $35 workshop, Southside Denny will share foundational insights that helped him build a decades-long career as a Chicago-style blues rocker and soloist playing with a who’s who list of musical musicians. He will touch on a number of things, including incorporating chords and arpeggios and shifting the mood through finger positions.

A little more on Southside Denny: He was born and raised in South Bend, has 12 albums to his credit, and has opened for such stellar blues acts as Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, and Lonnie Mack and legendary rock artists as John Fogerty, Edgar Winter, and BTO.
