Classic rockers Styx and REO Speedwagon have shared a lot of stages spanning 25 years, including many in our area.

You may recall REO’s final shows were last month, but that does not mean you won’t continue to hear their music from stages this summer.

Former REO singer and principal songwriter Kevin Cronin is teaming up with Styx and former Eagles guitarist Don Felder for the Brotherhood of Rock tour that visits Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville on Aug. 15, Pine Knob Music Center outside Detroit on Aug. 16, Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati on Aug. 19, Blossom Music Center outside Cleveland on Aug. 20, and Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre in Chicago on Aug. 23.

Styx and Cronin (as part of REO Speedwagon) toured together in 2000, and  following the 9/11 attacks, they came together to form the non-profit Rock to the Rescue, which still collects donations for local charities at every stop on Styx’s on-going tour.

Kraftwerk mark milestones

German electronic rock pioneers Kraftwerk are setting out to tour North America in the spring in commemoration of their breakthrough 1974 album, Autobahn, and their first United States tour, which took place in 1975.

Billed as a multimedia tour, a press release touts Kraftwerk concerts as a “Gesamtkunstwerk — a total work of art” for “bringing together music, visuals, and performance art.”

This should be a great show.

Check them out when they stop at Masonic Temple Theatre in Detroit on March 28 or The Auditorium in Chicago the following night.

Lamar, SZA team up

Kendrick Lamar and SZA are teaming up for the Grand National Tour with stops at 19 stadiums, including Soldier Field in Chicago on June 6 and Ford Field in Detroit on June 10.

Lamar’s latest album, GX, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and he is currently ruling the Billboard Hot 100 with newest single “Squabble Up.”

The rapper is also scheduled to perform at this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show in February.

SZA had numerous festival appearances this year, including at Lollapalooza and Osheaga Festival. Fans are patiently waiting for the release of her third studio album, Luna, which is planned to be released “before the end of the year,” though time is obviously running out.

Pierce the Veil going big

Pierce the Veil will embark on the sure-to-be-massive I Can’t Hear You World Tour next summer.

The band’s biggest headline tour to date it includes a stop at the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre near Detroit on June 1, Blossom Music Center near Cleveland on June 3, and Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre near Chicago on June 7.

Throughout the tour, Pierce the Veil will perform songs from their most recent album, 2023’s Jaws of Life, as well as from the band’s five other studio releases, taking fans back to the early days of A Flair for the Dramatic through 2010’s Selfish Machines, 2012’s Collide with the Sky which featured “King for a Day,” and 2016’s Misadventures

“We’re thrilled to announce the I Can’t Hear You World Tour,” the band said in a statement.

Sleeping With Sirens and Beach Weather will open the shows in our region.
