Shakira announced the first round of dates for her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. Only 14 shows are planned so far, but we are in luck as the Latin singer will perform at Chicago’s United Center on Dec. 14 and wrap up this leg of the tour at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit the following night.
Shakira’s latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which translates to Women No Longer Cry, was released in March and is her first new offering of songs in seven years.
Marley sons going on tour
Speaking of women not crying, Bob Marley’s sons, Ziggy, Stephen, Julian, Ky-Mani, and Damian Marley will hit the road for their first outing together in more than a decade.
The Marley Brothers: The Legacy Tour will see the sons of the legendary reggae singer will be honoring their father by performing individual hits of their own along with classic Bob Marley songs such as “No Woman No Cry,” “One Love,” and “Is This Love” as what would have been his 80th birthday approaches.
Each with their own successful musical careers, the Marley brothers have individually earned 22 Grammy Awards, including the latest, Julian Marley’s 2024 Best Reggae Album win for Colors of Royal, a collaboration album he made with Antaeus.
The trek includes a stop at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati on Sept. 18 and a stop at Pine Knob Music Theatre outside Detroit the following night.
Crowded House visit US
Multi-platinum Australian band Crowded House will tour the United States this year in support of their eighth studio album, Gravity Stairs.
The aptly named Gravity Stairs Tour kicks off in August and, unfortunately, makes only one stop in our region with an appearance at Ravinia Festival in Chicago on Sept. 11.
Crowded House are, of course, best known for their ’80s mega-hits “Don’t Dream It’s Over” and “Something So Strong,” but have had more consistent success throughout the rest of the world, selling more than 15 million albums over their career.
Weller stopping at The Vic
The “Modfather,” Paul Weller, will return to U.S. stages this summer, as the former frontman for The Jam and Style Council announced his first North American tour since 2017.
The 15-date tour is in support of his new album 66, released May 24, the day before his 66th birthday.
His 17th solo album and 28th album overall, 66 reveals an artist who is still energetic and as creative as ever. With his many career accomplishments, Weller could become a nostalgia act and most fans would be satisfied but he continues to make new music.
“What would I do if I stopped?” he asks rhetorically in a recent interview about the album. “And why would I stop if making music is what I always wanted to do?”
Check him out at Vic Theatre in Chicago on Sept. 15.
Country heavyweights unite
Multi-award-winning country stars Little Big Town will hit the road this summer with special guest Sugarland in tow.
The Take Me Home Tour is named after a collaborative song the two groups recorded together and “feels like a celebration of being a band for 25 years,” the band said in a press release.
“We’re so excited to throw this party with our great friends Sugarland. We’ll both be playing all our biggest hits and then some.”
The tour will be making a stop at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on Nov. 9.
