Americana musician Shakey Graves, whose real name is Alejandro Rose-Garcia, announced he will bring his Odds & Ends Tour to Fort Wayne on Thursday, May 9, for a concert at the Sweetwater Performance Pavilion.
The Austin, Texas, musician’s music is a hodge-podge of everything from folk to country, rock n’ roll to the blues. Graves released his debut album Roll the Bones in 2011 and all together has four albums under his buckle, most recently 2023’s Movie of the Week.
Indie folk singer-songwriter Odie Leigh will open the show.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. at sweetwaterpavilion.com and ticketmaster.com.
Debutants join Get Green Fest
On the heels of their Debutants Ball at The Clyde Theatre last month, Debutants have been announced as performers at this year’s Get Green Fest, hosted by the Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters.
The St. Paddy’s Day event will take place Saturday, March 16, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and includes the 5-Kilt run/walk, everyone’s favorite river greening, the gold coin drop, Lucky Charms eating contest, DJ Jason Spuller, and many more family friendly events.
Get Green Fest will be held in the parking lot across from Orff Park on Main Street, just west of Fort Wayne Newspapers. There is a heated event tent so no worries there.
Debutants are scheduled to hit the stage at 1 p.m., so be ready to jig along to Debs’ favorites and numbers from their latest release, River on the Moon.
Join emo party at Piere’s
Piere’s will host an Emo Party on Friday, March 22, when they welcome All American Throwbacks, Chicago’s ultimate emo party band.
All American Throwbacks perform all your favorite pop-punk and emo throwback hits from bands such as Blink-182, Sum 41, My Chemical Romance, Green Day, and Fall Out Boy. The band claims to be not just a show, but a full-on party.
I guess we will have to show up to find out.
Frankfort post-hardcore band Maybsomeday will open the show.
Keep head on swivel at death metal show
If emo is not your cup of tea, Piere’s has added one of the more dynamic death metal pairings of the season with Decapitated and Septicflesh.
The Cancer Culture Over North America 2024 Tour rolls into town on Sunday, May 5, alongside Kataklysm and Allegaeon.
For the Polish death metal band Decapitated, they will be playing deep cuts as well as showcasing songs from their eighth studio album, Cancer Culture.
Septicflesh is a Greek symphonic death metal band who are celebrating three decades of metal wizardry dating back to their debut, Mystic Places of Dawn.
Tickets for both shows can be purchased at etix.com and all Wooden Nickel locations.
