One of the most iconic punk bands in history are making their way to The States for the first time in more than two decades.
Sex Pistols, featuring Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock, are hitting the road with vocalist Frank Carter, in place of former front Johnny Rotten, aka John Lydon, and visiting clubs and theaters to perform their landmark 1977 album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols in its entirety.
The tour marks a celebration of the band’s 50th anniversary with stops at the Agora Theatre in Cleveland on Oct. 3 and The Fillmore in Detroit the following night.
Just 13 shows have been confirmed, but the band promises that additional tour dates will be announced soon.
Eclectic Lollapalooza lineup
You will have to really know a lot about a lot of different genres this year if you want to go to Lollapalooza and see the best acts.
The festival recently announced Olivia Rodrigo; Tyler, The Creator; Sabrina Carpenter; Rufus Du Sol; Luke Combs; Twice; A$AP Rocky; and Korn as headliners of the event being held July 31-Aug. 3 in Chicago’s Grant Park.
Gracie Abrams, Doechii, Dom Dolla, Djo, The Marías, Martin Garrix, Cage the Elephant, Clairo, and plenty more are also slated to perform, but the bulk of the announced bill will likely be unrecognizable to causal fans.
Regardless, if you go, it is always fun and, who knows, maybe you will accidentally see your new favorite artist while you are there.
Phish look toward summer
Summer touring legends Phish have announced dates for this year’s tour.
The trek includes a stop at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, on July 9 followed by a three-night stay at Chicago’s United Center on July 18-20.
The band were nominated for this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, marking their first nomination honoring their four-decade career. Through the first month of fan voting, which ends April 21, Phish were well ahead of every other nominated band, including Billy Idol who is in second place.
Mumford & Sons stay busy
Folk rockers Mumford & Sons will tour North America on a 32-date run this summer and fall.
The tour was announced in conjunction with the release of the trio’s fifth album, Rushmere, which came out March 28.
Indianapolis is first on the bill for shows in our region with a June 17 show at Ruoff Music Center, followed by Blossom Music Center outside Cleveland on June 18, United Center in Chicago on Oct. 8, Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 12, and Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Oct. 20.
Good Neighbours will open the Indy and Cleveland shows with Michael Kiwanuka opening the other three shows.
Death Cab celebrate ‘Plans‘
Death Cab for Cutie’s major-label debut, Plans, turns 20 this year, and the band have announced shows in three cities to commemorate the occasion.
Those stops include a two-night stay at Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Aug. 5-6, with support from Nation of Language.
“Plans is an album that changed the trajectory of Death Cab for Cutie forever — it was our major label debut, it went platinum, and earned us our first Grammy nominations,” frontman Ben Gibbard said a in press release about the tour. “We are only playing a few shows in its honor as we’re currently working on our next studio album, but we would be remiss to not take the opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary in some fashion.”
