As predicted, The Batman once again took the No. 1 spot at the U.S. box office, selling another $66 million, bringing the flick’s 10-day worldwide total to $463 million. Classic Batman.

The movie is getting the best word-of-mouth I’ve seen a film receive since COVID-19 came to town. I’ve been studying box office trends during COVID-19 with the goal of being able to guess where The Batman will land. I’m going to guess it finishes somewhere in the $1.5 billion range. Which, of course, means, yes, at least two sequels.

So get used to Robert Pattinson being a big deal again. Perhaps in perpetuity.

Uncharted is somehow still making money, taking the No. 2 spot with another $9.25 million in sales. So far, the action movie has made $113 million in the U.S. and $301 million worldwide.

Maybe it’s a good movie, maybe it’s not. Doesn’t matter. People are going to this movie because Spider-Man is the lead actor. And by Spider-Man, I mean an adorable lil guy named Tom Holland that all the young folks have a crush on.

A live screening of Korean boy band BTS’ Saturday concert in Seoul took the No. 3 spot at the box, selling $6.8 million. I have no more words for that topic.

Channing Tatum’s new buddy flick, Dog, finished at No. 4 with $5.3 million, upping the film’s 24-day sales total to $54 million worldwide.

Speaking of that cutey Holland, Spider-Man: No Way Home rounded out last weekend’s top five with another $4 million in sales, bringing the film’s worldwide sales total to $1.876 billion. Marvel reaaaaaally wanted this one to become the top-grossing film of all-time. That’s not going to happen. Look for No Way Home to finally leave theaters soon-ish. Go see it for the fifth time quickly, while it’s still on the big screen. Or, ya know, be a person with an imagination and go see something, anything, else.

Two horror films, X and Umma, will open nationwide this weekend.

We’re still in the proverbial “Dump Season,” so it’s hard to say if these will be good or not. I’d guess no.

More than likely, the studios chose this release date to offer some diversity at the very action-centric box office. That being said, I’d guess people will just go see The Batman again. And again. And again. Just a hunch!

Also, be on the lookout for a number of smaller indie flicks that should be popping up here and there, including The Outfit, Measure of Revenge, Alice, and The Hater. And before you even ask, none of them look especially good.

Oh! And, yeah, lastly, there are a whole lot of new flicks and shows on streaming services. More than ever. Too many to even begin to write about. We, the humans of 2022, are certainly entertained.
