Kiss had to put their latest farewell tour on hold for an undetermined time earlier this year when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. But I’m sure it would surprise no one that Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and company have been cooking up a recipe for one last 2020 payday.
It will come in the form of a New Year’s Eve livestream that will help to finally show 2020 the door and usher in what we hope will be a better year in 2021.
Because they are the kings of excess, Kiss are planning to do the show the only way they know how: with as much pyro as possible. The show will take place in Dubai on a 250-foot stage with 50 cameras catching all of the action. It will be held outside at the Atlantis Hotel and while a majority of fans will watch on the livestream, several thousand fans will be able to view the show from the balconies of the hotel.
Kiss are hoping to set the Guinness World Record for the biggest-ever pyro show, spending somewhere in the neighborhood of a million dollars on that aspect of the show alone.
Tickets start at $39 but, in true Kiss fashion, you can purchase VIP tickets that range from $250-$1,000.
The farewell tour is scheduled to resume June 2 in Belgium before coming back the States in August. They are scheduled to be in Detroit on Sept. 1, Dayton on Sept. 2, and Chicago on Sept. 4.
TSO Goes Livestream
Obviously influenced by Kiss and their live performances, Trans-Siberian Orchestra does a darn fine job of utilizing pyro and lights to put on great shows every Christmas season. Like everyone else, they will not be touring this year, but they are also planning a big livestream concert just in time to help get rid of that “Bah Humbug” attitude most of us likely have after all of the challenges 2020 has given us.
The TSO livestream takes place Friday, Dec. 18, and will feature an all-new staging of the band’s classic album Christmas Eve and Other Stories.
In addition to the full album concert, fans will have the opportunity to view special pre-show content, including behind-the-scenes footage and classic interview segments.
Tickets are $30. Bundles that include souvenir merchandise are also available for a little extra dough.
