The River City Rat Race is a 10K and 5K race that passes through some of Fort Wayne’s most scenic areas.

This year’s contest takes place Sunday, Oct. 16, beginning near downtown near Freimann Square on Main Street.

Described by Runner’s World writer Hal Higdon as “one of the most scenic 10Ks I’ve ever run,” the 22nd annual River City Rat Race will wind through the autumn parks and riverfront of downtown before heading toward the finish line at the Old Fort.

The race is fun and family-friendly with registration money benefiting YMCA.

The organization uses the money to give financially challenged children and adults an opportunity to use all the programs it has to offer, so not only will you have fun at the race, but you’ll be doing good for other people.
