John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed, is an important part of Fort Wayne history.
With that in mind, Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s Family Series will honor the pioneer with Johnny Appleseed Goes to the Symphony on April 6 at Arts United Center.
Featuring narrators Christopher J. Murphy, Doug Peconge and Fort Wayne Youtheatre, this original retelling of Appleseed’s life will help introduce Appleseed to younger audience members through the use of engaging anecdotes. The story begins with the young John, who liked to walk barefoot in the woods.
Compositions presented by members of the Philharmonic will accompany the tales in hopes attendees will gain a clear understanding of the way Chapman helped American settlers by walking a 100,000 miles in his lifetime to plant seeds.
