Five-time Canadian Juno Award–winning graphic artist Hugh Syme will appear at The Clark Gallery inside Honeywell Center in Wabash at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
Syme will be on hand for the opening reception of his art display, Hugh Syme: Improbable Reality, which opened Sept. 27 and runs through Nov. 5.
Syme will mingle with guests and participate in a moderated question-and-answer session.
Attendees can ask about his art that has included cover art for heavyweights of the music industry like Kiss, Rush, Dream Theater, Celine Dion, Aerosmith, Tesla, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, and Megadeth. He has also created concepts for major companies, including Facebook, Coca-Cola, Disney, and Verizon Wireless, and many major pharmaceutical companies.
Syme has been a longtime collaborator with Rush, dating back to 1975 when he designed the cover for Caress of Steel. He also designed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band’s iconic Starman logo.
Syme is also a musician and can be heard playing keyboards on five albums by the Ian Thomas Band, two albums by Tiles, and four of Rush’s studio albums, including the legendary synthesizer intro to “2112: I. Overture” from their 1976 album, 2112.
