The Fort Wayne Summer Music Theatre presents the Tony-winning musical Hairspray at North Side High School, July 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 7:30 p.m. and July 10 and 17 at 2 p.m.
The musical follows teenager Tracy Turnblad as she turns her dream of dancing on The Corny Collins Show, a local dance TV show, into a reality. When she is picked as one of the dancers, she becomes a celebrity overnight.
The Fort Wayne Summer Music Theatre is an eight-week summer intensive program held annually providing students with opportunities to act, sing, dance, and perform as musicians. Student technicians, led by professional educators, are used as well to teach the craft of set, lighting, and sound and costume design.
